Sun in Libra

How well can you see in the dark? The sun is what our world revolves around, what gives our planet light, warmth and life. The light of the sun allows us to see and make sense of our surroundings. Every year, the Earth comes to the same spot relative to the Sun, and we have organized our calendars and celebrations to this cycle. As a result, our world figuratively and literally revolves around the Sun. The sign the Sun was in at your birth tells you what season your life revolves around, the way you individuate yourself, your own “light” that you shine forth.

Libra is a diurnal cardinal air sign ruled by Venus, which means that a person born when the Sun was in Libra individuates themselves in a way that is characteristic of Venus – through their charm, their diplomacy, grace and tact. It’s the sign of the socialites, the sophisticated, the smooth. The polite, the pleasers, the peacemakers. The beauty-seeking, the bland, the balancers, the cooperative, the cowardly, the compromisers. As the ruling planet of Libra, Venus likes to bring things together, beautifying and harmonizing people and things.

The Sun likes to show off and command, so it is difficult for the Sun in Libra to naturally take charge and lead when he’s in a sign that is all about cooperation. So while people with the Sun in Libra can be charming, social and diplomatic, this is one reason why Libra is considered to be its fallen sign. It’s concerned with fairness, equality, balance. After all, Libra’s image is the scales of Themis, also known as Lady Justice.

Libra is associated with the center of gravity in the body, as well as the kidneys which literally help balance the body’s levels of electrolytes, salt, acidity, “scales” in our body. Sometimes, we need Libra’s opposite sign of Aries to take charge and boldly lead us somewhere but other times we don’t. Sometimes we need Libra Suns to stand up for what’s fair, to mediate conflicts, and sometimes survival depends on our ability to cooperate with each other rather than dominating each other.

This is especially true if you were born during the day and/or with Leo or Libra Rising. If you were born at night, you may identify more with your Moon sign.
