Sun in Leo

How well can you see in the dark? The sun is what our world revolves around, what gives our planet light, warmth and life. The light of the sun allows us to see and make sense of our surroundings. Every year, the Earth comes to the same spot relative to the Sun, and we have organized our calendars and celebrations to this cycle. As a result, our world figuratively and literally revolves around the Sun. The sign the Sun was in at your birth tells you what season your life revolves around, the way you individuate yourself, your own “light” that you shine forth.

Leo is a diurnal fixed fire sign ruled by the Sun itself, which means that a person born when the Sun was in Leo individuates themselves in a way that is characteristic of itself – the Sun. It is the sign of the proud, the regal, the luminous, the heroic. It has domain over the world of entertainment, leadership, lights and vision. Leo Suns are the stars, the stately, the standouts. The selfish, the snobs, the center of attention. The stubborn, the striking and the snuggly! Leo Suns are all about pride, ego, passion.

The stereotype is that Leos are all attention-starved people trying to make it big in the entertainment industry or politics, and while you certainly do see that, there are also the quieter Leos who are about a different sort of pride, the pride of self-reliance and maintaining the integrity of their vision, being king or queen of their own domain. In other words, you have the Leos who are in front of the camera, and the Leos behind the camera. One other strange thing that I’ve noticed about Leos – they often have a literally golden, fiery appearance, often having blond hair, red hair, big hair, otherwise noticeable hair- like the mane of a lion. Leo is associated with the heart and back, so sometimes Leo Suns can be afflicted in these areas.

This is especially true if you were born during the day and/or with Leo Rising. If you were born at night, you may identify more with your Moon sign.

  1. I noticed on my birth certificate the time of birth is not listed. Where can I seek this information? Thank you for your time

      Hi Penny,

Assuming you were born in the US, request the long form version of your birth certificate from your county and/or state office, sometimes it can be there if it’s not on the short form version. You can also check this list to see if it’s likely or not the time might have been recorded: https://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Astro-Databank:Handbook_chapter_07.1

If you were born at a hospital, you may be able to check with the hospital’s archives to see if a time of birth was recorded anywhere on your medical records. Depending on the decade you were born, there might be clues as to the time in the birth announcements section of the local newspapers of your birthplace, or in your parent’s email or social media records. Ask any family members who were living at the time you were born if they have any idea of the time of day approximately you were born, pay attention to any specificity in their answers or anything that might point to the time of day.

If none of those methods work, you’re down to astrological rectification methods, which I offer here: https://patrickwatsonastrology.com/services/rectification-consultation/

I also offer a course on rectification with Chris Brennan, available here: https://courses.theastrologyschool.com/courses/birth-time-rectification-course

      Hope this helps,
      Patrick
