Venus in Scorpio

Venus is the first planet out from the Sun to connect between two others, between Mercury and Earth. Venus’s cycles are orderly and regular, even beautiful, in her recurring geometry. Accordingly, Venus is the planet of relationships, unions, harmony, redemption, balance, beauty, love and romance. The condition of Venus at the time of our birth says something about what we find most valuable, precious and attractive, our styles of giving and receiving affection, our capacity for charming and unifying with others.

Venus in Scorpio is in a fixed water sign and takes on the qualities of its ruler Mars. Venus is quite stormy in this sign, tempestuous, brooding and lustful. There can be possessiveness and jealousy in relationships, drawn to sordid, tawdry affairs, fatal attraction. Forgiveness doesn’t come easily to them, they can hold grudges. Their aesthetic sense tends towards the deep and profound, but also the vulgar and obscene.

People with Venus in Scorpio can also be those who can defy the conventional societal expectations of propriety for one’s station in life, eschewing classic goods and values in favor of less popular and savory causes, asserting the value and dignity of people others consider tainted or unseemly. This is not the most natural place for Venus to be since it is opposite of its wholesome and serene home of Taurus.

This is especially true if you were born with Taurus, Libra or Scorpio rising. This can change depending on Venus’s relationship with the Sun. Whether you experience the better or worse significations of this position depends on whether you were born during the day or at night, and the kind of aspects it makes with the other planets.
