Venus in Virgo

Venus is the first planet out from the Sun to connect between two others, between Mercury and Earth. Venus’s cycles are orderly and regular, even beautiful, in her recurring geometry. Accordingly, Venus is the planet of relationships, unions, harmony, redemption, balance, beauty, love and romance. The condition of Venus at the time of our birth says something about what we find most valuable, precious and attractive, our styles of giving and receiving affection, our capacity for charming and unifying with others.

Venus in Virgo is in a mutable earth sign and takes on the qualities of its ruler Mercury. This is someone who is more demure, prudent, modest and discerning in matters of the heart and social instincts. What’s attractive to you is someone who is productive, handy and helpful, someone who can work alongside you. On the downside, this can also indicate a tendency to view romantic relationships and social connections more as transactions or exchanges.

The tendency to apply the rules of logic and mathematics to social relations and creativity is not always a great fit. Part of coming together with someone means accepting parts of someone that are unlike ourselves. There is no quicker way to kill the mood than to being too picky with your partner, demanding perfection. This is why Virgo is not considered to be a terribly natural match for Venus.

This is especially true if you were born with Taurus, Virgo or Libra rising. This can change depending on Venus’s relationship with the Sun. Whether you experience the better or worse significations of this position depends on whether you were born during the day or at night, and the kind of aspects it makes with the other planets.
