Rectification is the practice of using astrological techniques to figure out someone’s birth time, especially when it’s unknown or uncertain. I consider it to be one of the hardest things an astrologer can do, because it requires such a strong foundation in natal astrology in order to reverse-engineer a natal chart. Indeed, rectification is essentially natal astrology in reverse. Instead of interpreting one chart to predict one person’s destiny, you have multiple possible natal charts to match up with what’s happened in someone’s life so far.
I’ve offered rectification consultations through my website for years now, and it’s been incredibly educational and satisfying to provide a greater degree of certainty around unknown/uncertain birth times. It’s rare that you get validation about a rectification, but sometimes it does happen. I personally have several fairly impressive examples of having my rectifications of rising signs and rising degree ranges validated by a client’s subsequent discovery of their birth time, even from 24 hour timeframes, so I know these techniques can work.
My old friend Chris Brennan of the Astrology Podcast suggested about a year ago that we should make a course on rectification, given the similarity in our approaches and our similar successes with it.
