Uranus in Taurus 2018-2026: 3D-Printed Everything

Uranus is the planet of disruption and innovation, especially in a technological sense. Taurus is a fixed earth sign ruled by Venus. Earth signs are about what you can see, taste and touch, and since Taurus is ruled by Venus, it’s about the finer, nicer things we can see, taste or touch. Transits through Taurus seem to be pretty relevant for manufacturing, textiles and fashion, which combine the earth nature of Taurus alongside the rulership by Venus. When Uranus transits through Taurus, these topics are disrupted, revolutionized. Your clothes will never be the same. So, when will Uranus be in Taurus next?

Uranus transits around the zodiac every 84 years, spending about 7 years in each sign.

When Uranus transits through Taurus, we will see revolutions and disruptions in the Taurean topics of manufacturing, textiles and fashion. In order to get a sense of how 2018-2026 may play out with this transit, let’s look back at some past examples.

Uranus in Taurus 1767-1774: Spinning Jenny

On July 12th 1770 when Uranus was at 15 Taurus, James Hargreaves patented the “Spinning Jenny”, a multi-spindle spinning frame which drastically reduced the amount of work needed to create cloth. This invention is considered to be the key development in the industrialization of weaving. So, yes, it was a disruptive innovation that improved the process of manufacturing fabric. That sounds pretty Uranus in Taurus to me! And it certainly was if you were having to go through the goddamned rigmarole of weaving cloth like you’re on Little House on the Prairie or some shit, I can’t imagine. Damn.

Uranus in Taurus 1850-1857: The Sewing Machine

One of the most popular and efficient sewing machines was patented by Isaac Singer on August 12th 1851 when Uranus was at 4 Taurus conjunct Saturn at 4 Taurus and Pluto at 0 Taurus. The conjunction to Saturn may describe the sewing machine’s staying power and the conjunction to Pluto may suggest the power struggle that ensued over this technology. In the 1850’s multiple inventors came out with more efficient sewing machine products, and because of their overlapping patents, each were trying to sue the other for copyright infringement, a time actually known as “The Sewing Machine War”, which I swear to God is actually true. It was resolved on October 24th 1856 when the feuding companies joined together to pool their patents and called themselves the Sewing Machine Combination until the last patent expired. Meanwhile, society at large benefited from the dramatic reduction in effort it took to sew clothes, thus resembling another disruptive innovation in the domain of Taurus.

Uranus in Taurus 1934-1941: Synthetic Fibers

The Uranus in Taurus period of the 1930’s featured the invention of nylon, the first commercially viable synthetic fabric which ushered in a revolution in textiles. And it’s not just me saying this, here’s a whole article called “Nylon: A Revolution in Textiles.” Nylon was patented by DuPont chemicals on September 20th 1938, when Uranus was at 17 Taurus trine Neptune at 21 Virgo.  Neptune is more closely associated with synthetics and chemicals, so it is interesting that this particular innovation in textiles came from the manipulation of chemicals, and Uranus in Taurus was trine Neptune in Virgo.

Uranus in Taurus 2018-2026: 3D-Printed Clothes?/Smartwear?

I think Uranus in Taurus in 2018-2026 will coincide with some development in 3D-printing for fabrics and clothes which will become much more broadly available to the public. The technology is already here, just as it was for the previous iterations, but it didn’t take hold until Uranus actually got around to Taurus. 3D-printing clothes hasn’t quite taken over in the way that it could, but I think that will definitely change, sooner rather than later with Uranus entering Taurus next year.

Imagine a world where everyone wears stylish clothes that fit perfectly. It’s not hard to imagine a scanner which gets perfect measurements for each person and then 3D-prints custom designed clothes which fit perfectly. I think it won’t be too far off when people no longer go into stores to buy clothes. Instead, they might shop for fashion templates to download and then 3D-print themselves a new outfit in their living room. That would completely change what it is to be a fashion designer, making it easier for an up-and-coming designer to become popular or for people to just do it themselves. It would destroy the idea of standardized sizes and “plus-size” garments. You’d just wear clothes your size. Whoever makes the app that helps you design your own clothes to 3D-print is going to get rich.

Another reason I suspect Uranus in Taurus will be so big for 3D-printing is because Chuck Hull, the man considered to be the “father of 3D-printing” was born on May 12th 1939, when the Sun was conjunct Uranus in Taurus. His Uranus Return may well be when his invention goes mainstream. 

Another possibility is that we may see the combination of technology and fashion become more commonplace. We already have smartphones, smartwatches, FitBits, why not smartshirts, smartshoes, smartpants, smartbra, smartunderwear? I’m not sure what smartunderwear would do. Maybe temperature regulation, swamp ass reduction, real-time skidmark removal? Dream big.

Late 2023 through May 2024 is the really big time period to watch in this regard, because Jupiter will conjoin Uranus in Taurus. Developments from that time period, especially any patents made in that time should be pretty remarkable for the field of manufacturing, textiles and fashion. We’ve already seen with the previous examples how aspects Uranus receives from other planets color the kinds of inventions are produced, and Jupiter just takes things to an epic scale. Whatever Uranus in Taurus produces, will be ‘big’ when Jupiter conjoins it in Taurus. After all, Chuck Hull performed the first successful test of a 3D printer on March 9th 1983, when Jupiter was conjunct Uranus in Sagittarius.

So this is what I’m anticipating from Uranus’s stay in Taurus from 2018-2026, we’ll see this kind of revolution in manufacturing, textiles, fashion and swamp ass reduction take place. What do you think will happen? Let me know in the comments!
